Sectors

The manufacture and measurement of particles, colloids, and powders is required by almost all sectors, and whilst we do have sector specific expertise (e.g. GMP particle characterization for pharmaceuticals) our expertise spans all sectors. It is precisely this breadth of experience that makes Lawson Scientific Ltd experts in their field

.

Below are examples of the work we undertake for three sectors.

Pharmaceutical

Physio-chemical characterisation of API’s to the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industries to support preformulation studies and batch release. Access to a range of analytical equipment and methods available along side expert scientists to provide a trustworthy and efficient service to suit customer’s needs. As experts in powders, particles and colloids, we pride ourselves on providing our customers with reliable and consistent data.

Our techniques include;

  • • Particle size distribution
  • • Flowability
  • • BET Specific Surface Area
  • • Density
  • • Particle Shape – SEM / TEM
  • • X-Ray Powder Diffraction
  • • Wettability – Contact Angle
  • • Thermal – DSC / TGA
  • • DVS / IGC
  • • Rheological Assessment
  • • HPLC / ICP / MS / UV-Vis
  • • pH

Environmental and Water

A range of services to the environmental sector with a particular emphasis on the measurement of particle size distribution of particles/dusts on filters, and total suspended solids in water.

Our scientists have vast experience with the measurement of particle size distribution (PSD) using Coulter Counter or Laser Diffraction to help understand the success of any filtration processes or particulate emissions.

We also provide a bespoke service to the stack emissions sector whereby we measure the particle size distribution of filters taken from stacks for the analysis of PM1, PM2.5 and PM10. This valuable data may be used to contribute to the MCERTS data in order to provide a full particle size distribution of the sample for a full understanding of the particle emissions.

Mining & Minerals

With a particular emphasis on key particle properties, Lawson Scientific Ltd staff measure the particle size distribution and specific gravity of ores.
